The Application Range of Shot blasting Equipment

Qingdao Binhai Jincheng Foundry Machinery Co., Ltd. is the leading company of surface cleaning. professional suppliers of industrial shot blasting machine, shot blasting room, media blasting equipment, air blasting equipment, sand reclamation line, V method production line, dust collector, core shooting machine, and molding machine over 20 years. As one of the leading blasting equipment suppliers, we specialize in research, development, production, sale, and service, always keeping the leading role.

1. Shot blaster is used for cleaning metal surface

Shot blasting equipment is firstly used in the removal of sand and oxide scale on the surface of cast steel and iron castings in the foundry industry. Almost all steel castings, gray castings, malleable steel parts, ductile iron parts, etc. must be shot blasted. This is not only to remove the oxide scale and sticky sand on the surface of the casting, but also an indispensable preparation process before the quality inspection of the casting. For example, the casing of a large gas turbine must be subjected to strict shot blasting before non-destructive inspection to ensure the reliability of inspection result. In the production of general castings, shot blasting is an indispensable process for discovering surface defects of castings such as subcutaneous pores, slag holes, sand sticking, cold insulation, and peeling. The surface cleaning of non-ferrous metal castings, such as aluminum alloys, copper alloys, etc., in addition to removing oxide scales and finding surface defects of the castings, the main purpose is to remove the burrs of the die castings and obtain decorative surface quality to obtain a comprehensive effect.

In the production of metallurgical iron and steel, shot blasting and pickling is a process to ensure high productivity in the mass production of iron and steel, which is a combined mechanical-chemical process to remove phosphorus. In the production of silicon steel sheets, stainless steel sheets and other alloy steel sheets and strips, annealing-shot blasting-pickling must be performed during the cold rolling process to ensure the surface roughness and thickness accuracy of the cold-rolled steel sheets.

2. Shot blasting equipment is used to strengthen metal workpieces

According to modern metal strength theory, increasing the dislocation density inside the metal is the main direction to improve the strength of the metal. The practice has proved that shot blasting is an effective process to increase the metal dislocation structure. This is of great significance to some metals that cannot be hardened by phase transformation (such as martensitic quenching, etc.) or require further strengthening on the basis of transformation hardening. Aviation, aerospace industry, automobiles, tractors and other parts require a lighter weight, but the reliability requirements are getting higher and higher. An important process measure is to use shot blasting to improve the strength and fatigue strength of components.8
